As announced at the 8ball Citywide and on Facebook, Rob and I are continuing to downsize once again; the Western portion of Will County (and the town of Lemont) will soon be under new management; Steve Gillaspie and Lisa Schilling of Lockport, will take over effective the end of July. Steve has been in the APA for 19 years, a skill level 6, Lisa has been in the league 7 years, a skill level 2. Their combined background and their enthusiasm will bring this area to new heights as they bring passion, enthusiasm and new ideas to the APA. I’ll still be around as we all transition, and Rob and I will still remain operators in the Frankfort, Aurora and Sandwich areas. Both leagues will have new opportunities to try new things as smaller leagues. Steve and Lisa will be out to meet you and will host player meetings to hear your thoughts and share some of their own. I hope you’ll attend and support them on this amazing venture. Watch Facebook and the M&R app for times and places.

For my Farewell statement to the 200 teams in Will County, please check www.Facebook.com/APAMary the end of July but meanwhile, accept my sincere thanks for allowing us to offer this service to have fun, meet people and play pool for so many years. I never could have comprehended the effect this business would have on so many people; whether meeting a best friend, a spouse, becoming a bar owner, memories of Vegas or making a stranger your friend and teammate. The ripple effect is mind boggling. I’ve changed, in many good ways because of the APA, and while I could never make everyone happy, I did my best for who I was at that time.  I’ve made friends in this area, and it is close to home : ), so I will be around, as everyone likes to go where they know their name, and I’ve heard “There’s something about Mary”.  See ya!

A special Shout Out to my Will County assistants for the last 14 years; Sue Hopkins for 11 years, and most recently Lacie Pifko for the last 3 ½ years. You two made me look efficient and competent : ) and I thank you for keeping me sane.

Thanks for your continued support and participation and I look forward to this new chapter for all of us.

Have a safe summer, play nice, make a friend.
